Work on the lake
I’ve been spending a lot of time in Udaipur and with a view like this when I visit, how can I stay away?
Okay, that’s a little bit of hyperbole, I admit, but c’mon, the lake is gorgeous — any time of the day, all times of the day. And I end up staying right on Pichola, so that’s a lovely bonus.
I’ve fashioned a work space for myself (all ergonomically fitted for me, thank you!) and while the view through the window on the left is a bit distracting, I’ve managed to get quite a bit done while I’m there. The city is very, very hot nowadays (I took a scooter ride and nearly burned my butt off, even after it was parked in the shade) but at dusk, the bat population shows up. I have some videos on instagram, it’s a mesmerizing sight. I’ve never witnessed anything like it: thousands upon thousands of flying fox bats leave the city palace to skim water off the surface of Lake Pichola and then eat and chatter on the various Ficus trees that grow on the banks. When we’re having a drink up at the rooftop, they fly just a couple of feet over us, spreading out to hunt. It’s just amazing!
Beautiful place!! You are very lucky! 🙂
