Tree beseech thee…
So the BMC has decided it will now prune trees to prevent stray branches from falling. You know what that means, right? They’re just going to start chopping everything down in sight. My neighboring building society head told me that they’d chopped down the tree between us because “mosquitoes are breeding there”. He claims to be a horticulturist. Who never went to school, evidently. Because in his next breath he also told us it didn’t matter because “Only Tulsi” gives out oxygen, other trees are not important. I nearly slit my own wrists. Maybe these little clay gods will protect this peepul from being ‘pruned’ BMC horticulture style …
hmmm, it’s deplorable that the BMC should be taking the easy way out and “pruning” trees (which doesn’t actually help anything) while the actual solution is to fumigate still water bodies, and more importantly, eliminate them!
ps: can you change your RSS feed to be a full feed? It can’t be read in a feed reader the way it is right now.
Well, the very next day, they came and “pruned” the trees across my building. Hacked them to bits, in reality. When I questioned them, they said though they had permission only to cut branches smaller than 10 inches in diameter, they couldn’t reach them so they hacked off the larger ones they’re attached to. Of course. *Slaps self on forehead*. The society is apparently responsible for providing a ladder or something. These dudes shimmy up a tree and chop, chop, chop. no one cares 🙁
